The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deparment and Aerodynamix announced the arrival of the modified Night Vision Goggle for the AS350. Los Angeles Council Passes New Cyclist Law

Local statistics show an increase of urban cyclist in Los Angeles: if you live around Downtown Los Angeles or surrounding neighborhoods, you’ll find one at every corner. The increase of urban cycling has definitely changed the rules of the road, yet motorist (especially in Los Angeles) have not learned to adjust or acquire etiquette for sharing the road.

In an effort to protect and give cyclist rights of the road, the Los Angeles City Council, passed an initiative this past week that will enforce a fine on any motorist that yells or heckles cyclist. They are also considering a law that would provide a three foot safety perimeter around cyclist.

Australian Woman Kills Mouse and Puts it on Facebook

An Australian woman, who filmed herself killing a mouse and posted it on Facebook, will face Caboolture Magistrates Court for allegations of animal cruelty. The woman allegedly used an alias on Facebook and posted a video that showed her cutting the head off a mouse. 

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) found the video solemnly cruel, and felt that it was significant evidence to hold her accountable for her actions.   Continue reading

Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Phil Address Domestic Violence

We talked briefly about the seriousness of domestic violence, and we’ve even talked about places to get help if you feel you are in danger. This week both Vice-President Joe Biden and talk show host Phil McGraw (Dr. Phil) brought the issue to the main stream by addressing it publicly.

In the wake of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on the reestablishment of the Violence Against Woman Act, the Vice-President announced a contest for web developers that would tie awareness of domestic violence and the digital revolution. Vice-President Biden envisions software developers creating a user friendly, smart phone app that can prevent and stop domestic violence before it occurs. The premise of the app is to connect friends and family by monitoring their location and alerting them of any danger. The Vice-President plans to announce the winner in October.  Continue reading

Inmate Escapes from Police Custody in Huntsville, Texas

Escaping from police custody sounds like it would take a large amount of planning, or maybe it just takes brute force. Two inmates in custody fight their way out of a jail facility in Huntsville, Texas. Although only one of the inmates escapes, the video clearly shows from different angles their attempt to be stopped, and their violent tactic.
